Ahh, May. The weather gets warmer, mothers get their own day, and other things occur, I’m sure. Here are some things -– in no particular order -– that’s made my month of May magical.
Baseball
About a quarter of the way into the baseball season, and the Dodgers are atop the National League West. No complains here.
More dope music.
Los Angeles-native, Kid Ink, dropped an incredible mixtape Wheels Up. Best of all, it’s free. [Download Link] You can’t beat that.
“Tuna Roll” is my favorite cut. [Explicit Content]
Skullcandy Earbuds.
Quality earbud headphones that actually fit. Price? $18 at Best Buy. (Take that Dr. Dre.)
The biggest drawback, before, was the wires getting tangled in my pocket or backpack. The following video solves that problem:
Stanley Cup Playoffs.
It’s been physical. It’s been exciting. And the Kings have been winning. (Sorry Vancouver.) We’ve made it to the Western Conference Finals for the first time in ages and look to keep winning. Go Kings go!
NHL 36.
I love looking into the lives of successful athletes. (No, no, not for that reason.) NHL 36 is a series which follows NHL stars 36 hours before a game. It’s fascinating to see their incredible commitment and how they prepare themselves mentally and physically. And it’s fun to see how normal they are (playing “two-touch” before games), life in the locker room, etc.
Here’s a look into what Los Angeles King, Mike Richards, goes through:
Good books.
Finished The Brothers Karamazov earlier this month, and it was phenomenal. From start to finish, this book stole my attention with a gripping mystery, discussions of God and Christianity, and debates on virtue. A masterpiece.
But of my fitness reads, I have to salute a friend, mentor, and ninja, Jon Goodman, for his amazing new book Ignite the Fire. I destroyed it with my red pen (education vandalism) because it was swimming with advice for trainers of all experience levels. It loaded my head with ideas.
And ideas = money.
And there you have it! Let me know if you enjoy any of them. What are some of your favorite things right now? Leave a comment, hit me up on Twitter, or add me on Facebook.
